Tomefoolery, Guts, Bands and Sci-Fi!

11/28/2014

Now that's a blog entry title. It will make sense in a sec, promise.

Happy Day After Thanksgiving my Dearests!

I hope you all had warm places to be, surrounded by friends and loved ones. Having just returned a few weeks ago from a visit with family, I stayed local for the holiday this year and celebrated with some dear friends, it was lovely.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
This Saturday I will be recording an episode of Tomefoolery with co-creator & host comedian Cody Melcher and fellow guest improviser/vocalist/all-around incredible woman Sarah Shockey of the Shock-Ts. I can hardly contain how excited I am about this. Tomefoolery is a twice-monthly podcast wherein Cody and his guests all read a strange (or awful, or should-never-have-been-published) book and then discuss it. Hilarity ensues. For a great example, I recommend the July 2, 2014 episode with guest Katie McVay. For our episode, Cody has asked Sarah and I to read this piece of...um..."literature". I'll post the link when the episode airs!

And don't forget I'll be on-hand to help Guts & Glory close out 2014 at their December 17th show, upstairs at Schuba's, 7pm! NOTE: This event has quite the following, get there early if you want to get in!

Friends with good news:
Local Chicago pop band My My My has released their latest album. They're a fab group of people and I loved singing backing vocals for them (both in the studio and at live shows) a few years back. Congratulations to them, check 'em out!!

The band Gusto & Pony (dear friends Eve Rounds and Virginia Attaway-Rounds) have released their self-titled FIRST album! This is very exciting; it has been a rough and beautiful road for them. Please give them a listen!

Chicago sci-fi & fantasy theatre company Otherworld Theatre has a show running right now called The Aurora Project. Staging sci-fi is hard enough--but this show is an epic on top of that! I've had several conversations with OT's founder about the show while it was still in development, and I am really looking forward to see how they've realized the design and character elements. I've already bought my tickets (seeing it tonight, in fact!). If you are local, please come check it out.

That's all for now; stay warm and happy!
