LIVE LIT SHOWS AND EVENTS
Below are some links to truly great live lit shows in Chicago and elsewhere

The Stoop - "Over the years The Stoop has featured storytellers, writers, performers, and people from every corner of the city and beyond. The Stoop features ANYONE that feels they have a story to share. We like to say that the Stoop is more than a show, it’s a real life experience reminiscent of life on Chicago’s West-side hanging out on stoops, in backyards, and grandmothers front porch."

WRITE CLUB - pitting writers against each other, matching wits for charity. WC has chapters across North America, maybe one near you?

The Paper Machete - the weekly live magazine show, hosted by Christopher Piatt at the Green Mill every Saturday, 3pm.

Story Club/Story Club South Side - where storytellers get their tell on.

ARTISTS AND PROJECTS THAT ARE WORTH YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION

22 Shots - A collection of short films colliding art, film making, and disease. Brave work by filmmaker and artist Eve Rounds.

Samantha Goddamn Irby: Bitches Gotta Eat (blog), MEATY, We Are Never Meeting in Real Life, and Wow, No Thank You.You need this woman's work in your life immediately.

Pleasure Town - a sprawling audio fiction about a hedonistic town in early 20th century Oklahoma.

Our Fair City - A post-apocalyptic sci-fi radio epic...for the internet. I cannot stress enough the strength of the casting, writing, foley and story. God I love this show from start to finish.

UNWELL - From the creators of Our Fair City, a midwestern gothic mystery. Just the right amounts of strange & creepy -- and once again perfect casting, writing and foley. Just...hot damn, y'all.

THEATRES AND ARTISTIC COLLECTIVES THAT ARE KILLER

The Neo-Futurists - an ensemble of writers/performers/artists who create astounding works on a weekly basis. Their workshops are worth every penny.

Otherworld Theatre - A newer company in Chicago, working to bring science fiction to the stage. They're also behind the excellent fantasy/sci-fi short film festival: Juggernaut.

Happenstance Theatre - A collective of brilliant performers who are versed in clown, movement and group devised work. If you haven't seen their ever-changing annual show Cabaret Macabre, you are missing out.
