Gwynn Valentine is a writer/performer who grew up a road trip away from the Shenandoah mountains but has since become a Chicagoan. She has performed her satirical essays and pop-culture rants at some of the top live lit and storytelling shows in Chicago. She joined Reading Out Loud (Parsec Award 2016) as an Editor in 2015, and joined WBEZ's PleasureTown (Parsec Award 2015) as a Staff Writer in 2016, soon after became a Producer for the Star Trek podcast Space Lincoln. Gwynn has twice contributed writing to--and performed in--prime time shows with The Neo-futurists; she became an Artistic Associate with the Neos in 2015, and a Board Member in 2016. Her competitive essays have made her a six-time WRITE CLUB champion, and she's proud to have performed in Chicago's inaugural Lit Crawl. Her work has been published by WRITE CLUB Atlanta and by Chicago Literati.
As an actor, Gwynn has performed with Shattered Globe, Knife & Fork, Otherworld and Walkabout theatres, among others.
One half of the singing/songwriting duo “Ed” with friend and musician John Szymanski, Gwynn has collaborated with John on a one-act musical as well as several original songs. She also wrote & recorded original music, and directed a short film for Eve Rounds' film series 22 Shots.
Gwynn happens to be an accountant during the day and tries to use her powers for good, so she served as the Duchess of Finance (everyone got cool titles) for WRITE CLUB from 2012 to early 2014, working pro bono as the financial hub for all six chapters in North America in addition to the flagship organization of the philanthropic live lit series in Chicago. She won't, however, use her powers to do your taxes for you. She hates doing taxes so much.
