Yesterday's Paper Machete was the kind of hard-hitting show that I really dig, I am so happy I got to be a part of it! Highlights of the day were Sam Bailey (creator of the show You're So Talented), author and Neo-Futurist Jessica Anne, Barrel of Monkeys ensemble member Laura McKenzie, singer/songwriter Jessica Marks and sleight of hand work by Dennis Watkins. There was also some hilarious sketch/improv from Aasia Bullock and Dewayne Perkins about the Kanye presidential run that was pretty glorious. A great show, all around!
Also, I have yet another booking for this month, and I'm here to tell you about it:
On Monday Sept. 21st, I'll be doing Essay Fiesta for the first time. I'm pretty excited, since I especially like doing events for a good cause. The show is a mix of first-person true stories and music performances, it should prove to be a lovely mix! I got to see EF's Host Willy Nast perform last month at You're Being Ridiculous, which was awesome--and in a lovely reciprocation, YBR's Host Jeremy Owens will be performing at Essay Fiesta on the 21st! This is going to be a lot of fun! EF's proceeds go to 826CHI, a wonderful organization that helps kids. If you get the chance to come to this show, any donated money will be going to a great place!!
7pm at The Book Cellar
