The Paper Machete essay I wrote and performed on 10/4 is up over on the Live Lit page, and it went over awfully well. The PM crowd is always up for sarcasm, thank goodness.
Last night was the Seven Deadly Sins show, and thank you kindly to those who braved the rain to hear some pretty jaw-dropping stories based on Wrath, Lust, Pride, etc. There were some really great writers, comedians and storytellers there! My favorite stories were Angela Benander's Wrath and Polly Yukevich's Lust. Hoo boy, if you ever see either of their names on a bill, GO SEE THAT SHOW. As soon as I update my story with the day-of changes (which, by now, you know is just another part of the writing ritual) I'll post over on the Live Lit page.
Up next is the Live Lit Showdown, this Monday, Oct. 20th.This one is less than free ($10), but also a bit of a big deal. The idea of pitting the two factions of Chicago's live lit: Those who read their pieces vs. Those who memorize/extemporize, has been kicking around the city for years. Now that it is happening I am dead lucky enough to have been invited onto the lineup. Insane. Excited. I am working on my piece already--as I'm sure my opponent is as well.
Lastly, just today I got booked to return to Guts & Glory in their December show. Holy smokes am I excited. Now THAT's how you close out a year.
Thanks for all the support you guys,
Gwynners
