No pressure.
Most of what I write lately has been meant to be heard, or read aloud rather than being a solo voice inside someone's head as they read silently. I think there is a difference. So much is lost in a piece when it is written to be heard, which cannot be translated to text. The live lit scene in Chicago is continuing in its juggernaut growth, so there are no shortages of events and opportunities to "write out loud," so to speak. Still, I like having a place to stick the readable texts once the pieces have been performed so that friends who couldn't make it to the events can take a look if they wish. That's the main goal of this blog coming into being, though I do have other writings I'd like to park here and I'm sure the blog's overall purposes will morph over time.
